Rosneft says to protect rights if sees losses from Pompeo’s speech
MOSCOW, Mar 12 (PRIME) -- Russian oil major Rosneft will protect its rights if it bears losses due to U.S. State Secretary Michael Pompeo’s statements about the company’s purchases of oil from Venezuela despite Washington’s sanctions, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
“Rosneft is assessing the effect of the statements made by the U.S. officials and will ask for protection of its rights in accordance with the international law if sees losses,” Rosneft said.
The company said that the accusations are groundless and biased.
“Rosneft’s operations in Venezuela includes (oil) development projects and supplies of oil and is conducted in accordance with the international law and existing market contracts signed long before the U.S. introduced unilateral sanctions restrictions,” the statement said.
Rosneft also called the U.S. sanctions an intrusion into the activities of a company which is a foreign resident.
